Hump Day Happiness

Posted by Naomi on Apr 6, 2011 in Family, friends, hump day |

Hello Wednesday, I can not tell you how welcome you are.  It’s hump day.  The middle of the working week, the top of the hill, the slide to the weekend is on. To say I am tired is an understatement.  When a Mum from work wraps her arm around you and tells you to take care, you know you look t.i.r.e.d. Especially when she has a very brand new baby herself. But onwards we go… wearily, but onwards.

On hump day I like to think back over the past week and reflect on things that have made me happy.  Made me smile. Moments that have reminded me that there is good and happy and positive to be found, always.  So then here are mine, then it’s over to you.

Amidst the havoc that is packing to move there is excitement.  I love moving, I love a new house, a new start, a new challenge to make a home. Three more sleeps and it will all be happening. Yes I’m tired, but it’s still exciting.

A tweet up. On the weekend, along with the Green Eyed Girl, I ventured into the city to catch up with some of my tweeps, and meet some new ones.  It was a lovely morning.

Red eggs. Today a Mum came in to make traditional Greek Easter Eggs.  Fresh eggs, red dye, a huge pot… excited children and staff! At the end of the day the Mum handed each child a still warm, dyed red egg. We stuck an Easter sticker on, and then showed the class how to say Happy Easter and hit the eggs together.  A simple moment of sharing a family and cultural tradition with children from a range of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. ÂThe joy, the excitement, the sharing… happiness in a warm, smooth, red egg.

So, that’s my happy for the week.

Now over to you.

What has made you happy this week? What made you smile?

Happy Hump Day!

The awesome Melbourne weather. Our camping trip (oops…. must get around to writing a post on that one). Realising the one thing that makes me smile uncontrollably every time I see it (and it’s not what you’d ever imagine and, yes, I must get around to writing a blog post about that soon as well).

Ace you got to meet some of your tweeps at the weekend! Roll on this weekend so you can hopefully get a chance to chase away some of that tired.

Hope you get some well deserved rest over the weekend! And I’m a little bit jealous of your tweet up!

My happy moments…
- FINALLY feeling like uni is winding down a little bit. Just one more presentation to get through tomorrow, then it’s two weeks of holidays.
- Beautiful Shelley (from My Shoebox Life) sent me an early 21st birthday present in the mail and took me completely by surprise. I think I love her.
- Chocolate. That is all.

Enjoy the rest of your week – only two more days until THE WEEKEND! Sleep time for Nomie!

My friend is due to birth her baby. I have spent loads of time with her. She is so ready, physically and emotionally and mentally. She has made me feel like the best doula in the world. That all makes me so happy. I love an Easter time birth….

For a number of reasons, we’re having a tough, tough week of it. But I arrived home last night and little elf (3) insisted I lay down on the floor and ‘yoda’ with her. Ten minutes of her rather unique programme of stretches had me both aching and smiling.

Sometimes, even without knowing, children have a way of soothing our souls. Hope things improve for you soon.

Going to yoga even though I didn’t feel like it and finishing up feeling wonderful. A chat with a good friend. Finding out my kids had a good day at school. Getting throught a few things to do on my list.

my blog. it’s new and shiny and at this point everything i want it to be, it’s my new space to start my life online afresh and be me rather than the “woman who’s been ttc for 10+ years and has suffered x losses” – it is helping me breath again, my soul feel alive and for the first time in a long time i feel like the future, while not what i wanted it to be, may just be all sorts of amazing.

Two weeks ago I could not bare to think of my happiness having just found out that our dear friends 20 week pregnancy was about to end as their little angel was not going to make it…..the devastating news that her kidneys had not formed.

2 weeks on & that little baby angel was born on Monday & she is now watching over her parents.

My happy moment is just this –

I look at my baby girl, my dear little one year old, happy, smiling, thriving & I thank god for her & that we are truly blessed to have her with us as our friends will never get to witness the joy that their baby girl would have brought to them.

With tears of sorrow & sadness for our friends I hope that baby Alice will get to dance in her own fairy dress & join another little dear angel in heaven.

Sitting on the grass with my husband (who took a surprise afternoon off), watching my boy play sport with his team, his baby sisters cheering him on. I take a deep breath of the fresh grassy-scented air… This is happy.

My happy moment was last night – a night out with a friend, we shared a cheese plate and had a few glasses of wine, talked about writing, actually did some writing. Has kept me smiling all day – going out like this was something I took for granted before my chidlren were born!

I can’t believe Easter is upon us – I’m still recovering from Christmas!
